Spend one, two, three, or four days with Marvin and Penny Hardy in an intensive hands-on Balloon and/or Magic workshop.
Instruction can be given in English or Spanish.

Transportation from Salt Lake City, Utah Airport to Orem, Utah and back to the airport is included. Lodging and Breakfast each day will be at the Cottontree Inn on the Provo River. All other meals will be at quality commercial restaurants in the Provo/Orem area.

The four-day workshop will include the following:

One day: Balloon figures with non-round balloons including the 160Q, 260Q, the 321Q, the 350Q, 646Q, the 6" heart, the 6 inch Geo Blossom and the 16" Geo Donut and Geo Blossom. Promotion and pricing will be discussed throughout the day. Instructions will include single, multiple, and combined balloon figures, and will progress as rapidly as participants are able.

One day: Large-scale balloon sculpture with the 160Q, the 260Q, the 350Q, and the 646Q. Instruction will cover the four specific weaving techniques used to create the Top-hat, the Easter Basket, the Christmas Tree, the Golf Cart, Bag and Clubs, the Champagne Bottle and Glass, Articles of Clothing, Wall Murals, and unique shapes such as Automobiles, and will progress as rapidly as participants are able. Promotion and pricing will be discussed throughout the day.

One day: Round balloon decor. Instruction will cover Classic Decor and will include arches and swags, columns, large scale sculptures such as the Bride and Groom, framing, and table centerpieces. Job costing, promotion, and bidding will be discussed throughout the day. This workshop will help to prepare participants for the Qualatex Balloon Network Certified Balloon Artist qualification. Instruction will progress as rapidly as participants are able.

One Day: Party Magic. Instruction will include balloon oriented magic, mathematical magic, close-up magic with ropes, coins, cards, and etc., and an introduction to stage magic. Participants will learn enough magic to be able to perform at Birthday parties, business parties, and other social functions.

One, two, and three day workshops will be tailored to the specific desires of the participants and will include whatever portions of the four-day workshop the participants desire to focus on. Instruction will progress as rapidly as participants are able.

Cost of the workshops include all balloons and materials used, and numerous handouts and lecture notes which will be provided to participants during and at the completion of the instruction, and is as follows:

One-day workshop - includes up to two nights lodging, 5 meals, and transportation from and to the Salt Lake City, Utah Airport.
One person - $550
Two persons sharing the same hotel room - $950

Two-day workshop - includes up to three nights lodging, 8 meals, and transportation from and to the Salt Lake City, Utah Airport.
One person - $1050
Two persons sharing the same hotel room - $1450

Three-day workshop - includes up to four nights lodging, 11 meals, and transportation from and to the Salt Lake City, Utah Airport.
One person $1550
Two persons sharing the same hotel room - $1950

Four-day workshop - includes up to five nights lodging, 14 meals, and transportation from and to the Salt Lake City, Utah Airport.
One person $2050
Two persons sharing the same hotel room - $2450

Additional days may be scheduled for sightseeing between the end of the course and the return trip to the Airport at the request of participants. The participants will pay meals, lodging, and transportation for the extended period.

Primary participants must be adults, sixteen years of age or older. Children twelve through fifteen years of age will be accepted if accompanied by participating adults and will be charged at 75% of the one-person rates.

Non-participating persons accompanying participants will be on their own. They will not be accompanied, escorted, or entertained during the period of the instruction in order to provide the maximum benefit to participants, Non-participating persons are welcome to join participants for meals. If they choose to do so they will be charged $75.00 per day to cover meals.

Marvin and Penny are also prepared to bring this instruction to you. The same one day, two day, three day, or four day workshop is available to you at your location. You will be allowed to include up to 10 of your employees in the workshop.

For workshops at your location, you will be required to provide the following:

1. A location with adequate space for the instruction.

2. Travel expenses for Marvin and Penny, including mileage at the rate of seventy-five cents per mile one way or round trip airfare for two, plus meals and lodging. Mileage will be a computed city-to-city using AAA mileage charts. Travel time for meals and lodging will be figured at 500 miles per day if travel is by vehicle, one day each way if travel is by air within the continental United States, or two days each way if travel is by air for International travel. The cost of "on-location" workshops is figured at $200 per day for travel days and $400 per day for Workshop days, plus expenses as outlined above. You will be required to provide balloons, materials, and equipment for on location workshops.

PLEASE NOTE: A 50% deposit is required at the time reservations are made. Deposit is non-refundable unless reservations are canceled at least 30 days prior to the workshop dates. Payment in full is required prior to the beginning of the instruction.

Workshops may be scheduled up to four months in advance. Please feel free to call to discuss group rates, or any desired changes to the above workshop content or schedule.

Marvin has been teaching Balloon Sculpture, Balloon Decorating, and Magic throughout the world for the past 27 years. He has developed a worldwide reputation as a multi-lingual instructor and lecturer. The Author of the Balloon Magic books and videos, which are published and distributed, by Pioneer Balloon Company, and Industry Editor of Balloon Magic The Magazine, he has a wealth of experience with balloons and magic. He and his wife, Penny, travel extensively, sharing their experience and expertise wherever they go. Marvin published his first balloon instruction book under the trademark "Balloon Magic" in 1983, and currently has seven books and two videos on balloon sculpture in distribution. In addition, he has authored three books of poetry, one book of Balloon Oriented Magic, a three-volume set of books on Recreational Mathematics and Mathematical Magic, and a book on motivation and business promotion. Marvin was awarded the Crystal at the International Balloon Arts Convention in August of 1994 for his many outstanding contributions to the balloon industry, and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for 20 years of dedication to the Balloon Industry at the International Balloon Arts Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada in March of 2000 .
